Over £6,100 was raised this year for the Kent Surrey Sussex Air Ambulance at the event held on Sunday 27 July. Nick, the Community Fund Raising Manager for Air Ambulance advises that Classic Cars on the Green has now raised over £64,000 to date - I'm sure you will agree that's an incredible achievement!
As headline sponsors to the event, Turkey Mill Directors Dougie and Adrian chose to give their award for "Best Post 1945 Classic Car" to Andy Morgan, the proud owner of a rare Citroen DS 23 Pallas Automatique.
They enjoyed hearing about the interesting history of his ownership of the car... Mr Morgan first purchased it in the late 1980's but had to sell to pay for his wedding... although the new owner allowed him to use it on his wedding day! He sold it to a WW2 veteran who was involved in the capture of Pegasus Bridge, a member of the Polar Bear regiment. He wanted the car to return to the bridge on commemorative events with some of his old comrades. 14 years later he called Mr Morgan who purchased the (now neglected) car back. Andy Morgan lovingly restored the car together with his young sons and enjoyed travelling in it across Europe.
